In day-to-day operations, it is important to quickly identify who processed or posted a specific document in the system. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central provides built-in tools that allow users to review document history and identify the user responsible for posting a transaction, improving traceability and supporting effective internal controls.
In this video tutorial, we show you how to identify the user who posted a document in just a few simple steps.
How to identify the user who processed a document
In this example, we use the Posted Sales Invoices list, but the same approach can be applied to other document types in Business Central.
After locating the document you want to review, go to the top menu and select Find Entries.
Business Central will display all entries generated by that document, along with its related records across the system.
Checking who posted the document
From the list of related entries, select the G/L Entry to view the accounting details associated with the transaction.
In this window, you can review the User ID column, which identifies the user who posted the document in Business Central.
The information is available instantly, without the need to generate additional reports or perform manual investigations.
A valuable tool for audit and traceability
The ability to quickly identify the user who processed a transaction provides greater transparency and helps organizations maintain compliance with internal procedures.
This functionality is particularly useful for finance and accounting teams, as well as managers who need to review document history and ensure accountability for business transactions.
Greater visibility and control in Business Central
With the built-in traceability features of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, organizations can easily identify who posted a document, track the complete lifecycle of a transaction, and retrieve the information required for internal audits and operational reviews.
This level of visibility helps improve process control, supports compliance, and enables more efficient management of business operations.
