Most companies that have implemented business software have experienced difficulties during digital transformation projects. At the same time, studies show that this “poor reputation” applies to nearly all digital initiatives within organizations.
“In the 20 years of experience accumulated and the more than 500 projects implemented by Arggo, most of them within the Microsoft ecosystem, we have identified several measures worth considering before and during implementation to ensure the right foundation for success,” said Alexandru Tănasă, Strategic Development Manager at Arggo.
Such initiatives generally appear in medium and large organizations. This is natural, as smaller businesses need the ability to pivot quickly and explore new markets or products. A digital transformation project brings clarity and standardization, which can limit the flexibility required by a company still testing and validating its business model. For this reason, such investments are sometimes not recommended for small companies. By contrast, for a mature organization, an ERP-type project becomes a catalyst for healthy growth.
One of the first warning signs, often encountered in early discussions, is the exclusive focus on technology. Digitalization is often assigned strictly to the IT department. For example, implementing ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Finance, and Supply Chain Management is one of the most important decisions an organization will make. Involving top management from the earliest stages helps ensure that the company’s strategic direction for the next 5–7 years is clearly communicated. This is why the People–Processes–Technology triad provides the only sound approach. Technology is a means; the real change begins with people and the processes they support.
“At Arggo, based on our implementation methodology, we define answers to several essential questions to understand the framework and clarify the real motivation behind the project. Why the organization is making this change and which business objectives it intends to achieve in the next 12–18 months—together with the measurable KPIs—are fundamental questions that shape the purpose of the implementation. Before automating and digitalizing, a simple exercise is worthwhile: calculate the cost of the current situation and the expected benefits after implementation. Estimate the average duration of the activity you want to improve, its monthly frequency, the number of people involved, and their hourly cost. Only then decide whether the investment is justified,” added Alexandru Tănasă.
Another common pitfall is reliance on legacy systems. Because “they still work,” organizations tend to keep them unchanged, often for years. However, software evolves continuously, and stagnation becomes riskier than change. Microsoft, for instance, updates core systems twice a year, and remaining indefinitely on a current version is no longer possible without performing the necessary upgrades.
Security is also a key factor, as outdated systems—whether in functionality or integration capabilities—make it increasingly difficult to maintain adequate protection against cyber threats. Maintenance costs and security vulnerabilities represent significant risks that cannot be ignored.
Over the years, Arggo’s solutions have been chosen by companies and brands such as Dedeman, Băneasa Shopping City, KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Baumit, Aquila, Automobile Bavaria, Synevo, Ameropa, Secom, Kruk, Bigotti, Agrii România, MagnaPharm, Kwizda Agro, Klass Wagen, and Titan Machinery.
AI is already reshaping the labor market at every level. Studies by Cognizant and Oxford Economics estimate that up to 90% of current roles will be influenced in the next decade. Although the figure may seem daunting, in reality it represents a major opportunity for growth.
“We now have the chance to learn at an accelerated pace with the help of our ‘personal copilot’ and to build more dynamic careers. Everything depends on how we choose to see change: as a threat or as a launchpad to expand our skills, become more versatile, and learn to work alongside AI,” said Alexandru Tănasă.
Arggo is a software development and consultancy company that supports organizations in successfully achieving digital transformation. It leverages AI capabilities both through Microsoft solutions such as Microsoft Copilot and through its own Timeqode platform, enabling process automation, enhanced data-driven operations, and informed decision-making through predictive analytics.
